The Boswell BG-R

The Boswell BG was my opportunity to think outside of the box...no pun intended.  I love building acoustic guitars, but at the same time, I have an extensive background playing electric guitar as well!  I am absolutely in love with the early, inexpensive gold foil guitars of the 60's, and I always wanted to come up with an interesting design that complimented and built off of that era of guitar.  This guitar feels and plays amazing.  Three Lollar gold foil pickups, Mastery bridge, 5-A flame roasted maple neck, old growth Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with a 24.9" scale (right in between Gibson and Fender) with gold evo wire, Brazilian rosewood peg head overlay (front and back), DaVinci tuning machines, and a solid one piece old growth redwood body (completely hand carved).  This guitar came straight out of my head.  No jigs, no forms, no mass production.  For now, there is only this one, however, I plan to make more!  Keep your eyes open for the review on this particular model in the January issue of Guitar Player Magazine!

Through-body bridge design gives this guitar plenty of sustain.  The solid redwood body weighs in like a bird, and contributes immensely to the ringing sustain and complex overtones.  Matched with a 5-A torrefied flame maple neck and plenty of Brazilian appointments, this guitar not only sounds incredible, but looks the part as well.  I plan to make many different styles of the BG pictured here.  Body material, pickup orientation/custom electronics, and neck design are all options to be entertained.

This particular body was made from incredibly tight grained, very old growth redwood.  This slab of wood came from the sign from the original guitar shop that I started working at 22 years ago!  That sign hung over the door of that shop for years...outside in the sun, the rain, the wind, the calm.  When I received it as a gift, I hung onto it for a decade before the vision of what to do with it finally entered into my mind.  Today, it's been reincarnated for something all together different.  This guitar is truly one of a kind.  It plays beautifully, sounds incredible, looks gorgeous, and is as light as a feather. Check out the images below...
